After very unluckily going behind, they showed bottle to come back and in the end, got a deserved comfortable win, COYS. Comment posted by Spurs, at 10 Aug Spurs. Would love Eriksen to stay. Different team with him in. Creates space and exploits gaps and pulls defences out fo shape. Lessons to be learned from that but overall deserved win. Villa will be okay this year.

Really impressed with the energy of the team Fair play to Villa, they gave a good effort and an entertaining match! Harry Kane - it's great to see you well rested and sharp on the field! Great welcome to premier for Ndombele! Winks showing some ballet skills! Do not sell Eriksen.

Fine goal from new boy Ndombele and a classy brace from Harry Kane. Spurs man Walker-Peters was outstanding. This Spurs side have got bottle. Well done Villa for making a game of it and welcome back to the PL your were very much missed.

Yep, bad day for Spurs People saying Spurs won't challenge seem to be conveniently forgetting they have the likes of Son, Dele, Vertonghen, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Foyth etc to come into the team. Not a fan but Villa must be gutted. Well done Spurs that's what you have to do fight till the last. Spurs good value in the end.

Sluggish start but the win is all that counts. That Harry Kane is class. Comment posted by Myeyeshaveseentheglory, at 10 Aug Myeyeshaveseentheglory. We showed that we can dig deep and grind out a result. Villa were very organised at the back and forced us to play in front on their defence more than I would have liked. Kyle Walker Peters had a great game. Harry Kane was his usual clinical self. Haters gotta hate. Don't you love it when Spurs win and the whingers come on here to say how bad a team is that came from behind to beat a very defensive team when they were without 4 regular starters in their starting lineup.

Yeah good when he wants to but does he really want to be there? Lets see what Lo Celso can do and take it from there.. For the next sixty minutes, Villa fought tooth and nail to keep one of the best teams at bay. It was not to be, however, as quality shined through when Christian Eriksen entered the match, Tanguy Ndombele scored a screamer, and Harry Kane finished two very good chances.

Jota, Jonathan Kodjia and Douglas Luiz entered the match in the second-half, but could not affect the play.

Aston Villa vs. Amazing debut for Tom Heaton in a different claret and blue kit. He made two tremendous saves that kept a possible result attainable. His headed clearance, too, was underrated. Most thought Fred Guilbert would start after playing in the friendly victory over Red Bull Leipzig. Equally as immense — Tyrone Mings stole the show with fifteen clearances. The other surprise inclusion, Neil Taylor received the nod ahead of new signing Matt Targett. He in particular was very strong in 1 v.

Conor Hourihane showed well in his Premier League debut. Douglas Luiz replaced him with ten minutes to play. Jack is a tough one to grade because he was probably an eight in the first-half and a three in the second-half. So a six makes sense? Very, very promising debut from the Egyptian winger. He was clearly gassed by the hour mark, which was a product of his non-stop work rate.
